Rephrasing my questioning.
My questioning was "How to discover my cultural identity?".
This question never comes across me until coming to New Zealand. I am a Chinese-Malaysian, but often people will mistake me as a Chinese (China) cause of my appearance. Suddenly I am placed in this awkward situation. A Malaysian-Chinese but unfamiliar with Malaysian nor Chinese culture.
Other than that, uncertainty on our own identity will have a feeling of acceptance in the community.
Through this exploration, I will have more understanding of my own identity.
Initial idea
Me and my dragon (totem) going on an adventure to uncover my true identity.
Using mark making to present my emotion in this journey.

Me and my dragon (totem) going on an adventure to uncover my true identity.

After my one-on-one meeting with Kathryn, I need to expand on my question and rearrange my idea.
1. Keywords: Malay, Chinese, story, drawing, acceptance, society.
2. Aim: Message to convey with the audience.
2. Aim: Message to convey with the audience.
Forming question
A question should be precise and interesting for readers to be attracted to it. Using my previous question as guidance "How to discover my Cultural Identity" into "How by uncovering my Cultural Identity through drawings reflects cultural acceptance in nowaday's diversified society?"
Story Idea
At first, I thought of narrating my own story about the discovery of my own culture ending with the utopian world, my kind of happy ending where everyone gets along together.
However, to create interesting ones, it is best to have some story to refer to.
1. Mythical Malaysia/Chinese/Children culture story
2. Personal experience
3. Historical context
4. Material: the choice of paper might be able to distinguish the cultural difference. (Chinese paper, Malay paper, English paper etc)
4. Character: Characteristic as a symbolism of each role. exp: scale, size, appearance.
5.Ending: more realistic, with lesson exp: realizing the power of acceptance.
Agenda for next meeting (Thursday)
1. 10 rough drawings of story.
2. Story Idea (storyboarding or written form)
3. Update with the ILT art awards.
4. Having Access to Ink and Brush. (gonna try out)
