Week 2 One-on-One with Kathryn 

"Cinderella" story is an international fairy tale story told all around the world. I wanted to create a series of illustration that shows a story of 3 different country's Cinderella having a mixed marriage to represent the acceptance of diversity in society. 

Although the different country has its own version of "Cinderella" but the essence is still the same. 

Similarity: 

• Bringing up by the stepmother along with her stepsister. 
• Cinderella was told be kind, positive and happy. 
• Having a guardian after her father's death. 
• True friendship.
• Wanting true love. 
• Prince/Royalty looking for Cinderella. 

Creating Illustration: 

My illustration does not include a narrative. To improve my storytelling skills through imagery, I have been advised to look up for some graphic novel or illustrator. One example is by am Australian Illustrator name Shaun Tan, The Arrival. The Arrival is about immigration telling the story through pictures of illustration.

      

My aim is to activate a viewer's thinking. Make them questioned and wonder about the objective of the illustration. 

Agenda for week 3: 

1. Create rough storyboarding then uses one specific scene to emphasize on. Freezing the moment for compare and contrast among each Cinderella. 
2. More drawings. 
3. Journal about Cinderella.
