New Zealand and Asia-Pacific Art

APT9/ Time-lapse installation

Qiu Zhijie "Map of techonological Ethics"

- The form of installation impressed me. Painting his work on the wall form a different atmosphere to the audience. maybe paint the QR code, or spray it out. (I don't really like the idea of printing it)

Coursework activity:
Find three artistthat interested me on the APT9 art exhibition.

Jakkai Siributr - from Thailand

My comment
-       This exhibition is very similar to my own. It talks about the cultural problem going on in Thailand. He present the diversity through illustration on clothing.
Traci suggested if I can imitate him by illustrating daily life activity on a clothing.

Waqas Khan – from Pakistan

/var/folders/3s/hrdrvky9063_ywhxyg1qdqj00000gn/T/com.microsoft.Word/WebArchiveCopyPasteTempFiles/xl.jpg

The drawings consist of carefully repeated lines and dots, which, once connected together, emerge as geometric shapes with an organic or cellular appearance. Khan works on wasli paper, traditionally used in miniature painting, which is sufficiently thick to bear the weight required for the artist to control each line with two hands using the rapidograph.

My comment
-      The idea of dots and lines relates to my initial idea in expressing the idea of unifying different culture. One dot is just a dot, but if a group of dots combine together, it forms a shape and an object. This saying reflects to my idea on human and cultural identity.

PANNAPHAN YODMANEE

/var/folders/3s/hrdrvky9063_ywhxyg1qdqj00000gn/T/com.microsoft.Word/WebArchiveCopyPasteTempFiles/xl.jpg

Yodmanee is particularly interested in the role that faith and religion have in our lives, and their capacity to foster peace and happiness, but also destruction, conflict and violence.

My comment
-      By incorporating with the ideology from Yodmanee, I am able to compare the bad and good in any fairy tale stories. Like the current one that I am incorporating with, Cinderella. Oh!! I never thought that I can create an art that shows the bad and the good in the story. (The beauty and destruction of a particular thing. Maybe a portrait of myself in the perspective of Cinderella from three different culture: Chinese, Malay and European.)
