-Reflects on political and social histories and their ongoing effects.
Self-Comment
I think her work can relate to mine, talking about the relationship of self with the community. My work also show the similarity of language (The similarity of a word in different language: Malay, English and Chinese)

-Korat, Thailand
Taking photograph of portrait reflects his thought on the “Self” aspect.  **his subject is often his friends, whose documentary -style exposure raised issues of vulnerability , confrontation and the power of the individual. He explores ways in which art can respond to power.
Self-comment
Funny that mostly artist from third world country or Asian country encounter more into the “self”. I should say, country or people who was exposed with racism or discrimination tend to be more interested into this topic.

Artist uses interesting material to create their work, giving it more value and energy for their audience.
Example:
Zahra Imani: Textile, Sewing into illustration [From garment bought in a bazaar]. Depicting the daily life of Iranian women’s lives with humour and insight.
Htein Lin: Uses charcoal, soap, clothing and alms bowls to address broader issues of environmental disaster, sustainability and rural communities. Relating issues happening in Myanmar now.
Waqas Khan: His drawing consist of carefully repeated lines and dots, which, once connected together. (emerge as geometric shapes with an organic cellular.) He uses wasli paper (has a historical meaning behind it.)
Elia Nurvista: Often incorporate video or mural painting and an element of audience interaction.

Contemporary art of Australia

What’s the meaning of Biennale? A large art exhibition or music festival that take place.

Australia Council For the Arts.
-They have resources for establishing an art event.

What the meaning symbolism? (How to incorporate into my own work)

As opposed to Impressionism, in which the emphasis was on the reality of the created paint surface itself, Symbolism was both an artistic and a literary movement that suggested ideas through symbols and emphasized the meaning behind the forms, lines, shapes, and colors.
