Studio/ Research: BVA 316/ BVA303 - 22/10/2019 (Painting figures - part 1)

Material that I will be using in the painting process.

First of all, I sketched with a pencil, of all the figures out from the reference image onto the Fabriano paper. Then draw detailed elements with a mechanical pencil and trace it with the ink pen of size differs from 0.1 - 0.8. Rub all the line and colour with watercolour. Some detail is not possible to be achieved using watercolour, therefore water-soluble colour pencil is being used. Finishing off with gold and silver colour, to give that sensation of "a magical moment" in that time.

From Monday and Tuesday, I have finished painting the first batch of figures.

This is the biggest figure among all the others. I wanted to signify that this is the main character that will be dominating the topic of my work. The reception for this signifies the stereotypical appearance and the traditional clothing that identifies a specific culture.
The Cinderella carriage is the most difficult item. First of all, it is not an easy task to reimagine and redesign pumpkin transportation that looks like a carriage and a car!! Since i wanted that typical pumpkin car to signify the cinderella element, I painted the transformation of the carriage. A pumpkin vegetable into a pumpkin figure car generated by the motor on top of its "cover".

The representation of my classmate as a fairy godmother shows a little fun from this whole piece.  A western looking individual wearing a Chinese traditional outfit is what I like about this work.

This is the final figure for today. Its a depiction of me in transformation.

I found this kind of adaptation in art fun and creative.  A mixture of everything that signifies so many issues within the work.
